Mano a Mano Fantasy RPG:Humans

Most fantasy characters are ordinary humans. In some fantasy worlds, humans can develop magical powers or perform miracles with divine intervention. Ordinary humans are sometimes called mortals especially when compared to other creatures which are often more powerful or long-lived. In spite of - or perhaps because of - their limitations mortals have a reputation for faith and loyalty. In addition to divine intervention these qualities help mortals to call on each other for mutual aid and band together against their enemies.

Sometimes trolls or other monsters will steal a human infant, replacing it with one of their own. The monster raised by humans and the human raised by monsters are called changelings.
