Carrie Carter/ aka Gremlyn[edit]

Carrie Carter grew up under the supervision of the New York State Care and Foster Services after her birth parents couldn't handle (or afford medication for) her multiple medical issues. She grew up physically weak and intensely bitter, bouncing from care home to foster parent and back again; no one wanted to be burdened with her for any real length of time. Not everyone was horrible - she has fond memories of several foster homes - but those periods were brief; it was only ever a matter of time before one condition or another proved too much. No one was more surprised that she reached the age of 16 than she was.

And then came Roxxon-Oscorp (the two companies having merged a couple of decades ago after one scandal or another), who were looking for test volunteers for new treatments. Carrie was suspicious, but not quite enough to turn down the opportunity to ease something, anything. And since R-O were footing the bill, her case worker was all too happy to try and save the state some money in the longer term.

And well, it worked. Sort of. Carrie was healthy, and strong, and fast. Learning to run properly was fun. But then it turned out the "treatment" was also a death sentence; her body couldn't properly handle the changes and sooner or later would give out from the strain. She was pretty mad about that. Still is, in fact. She may have gone on a little rampage through a R-O facility, dressed in green and purple and a cheap goblin mask.

It caught attention, especially after she halted her attack and turned to rescuing some of the bystanders caught up in what she had started. That felt good, so now she splits her attention between dealing with Roxxon-Oscorp and trying to help people while she has time to make a difference.

Running around as a Goblin definitely drew someone's attention; anonymous messages lead Carrie to a safehouse and supply of "Goblintech". Carrie suspects its someone from the Osbourne family, but hasn't been able to confirm that.

Moment of Truth[edit]

The prickly tingling fear of your doom, always in your head—it holds you back most of the time. But right here, right now? It gives you the confidence to do anything. After all, what’s the worst that could happen? Is it worse than your doom? Do impossible things. Do anything. But mark a doomsign after you’re finished.

Team Moves[edit]

  • When you share a triumphant celebration with someone, give them Influence over you and spend 1 Team from the pool to clear one box on your doom track.
  • When you share a vulnerability or weakness with someone, give them Influence over you and ask if they honestly think there’s hope for you. If they say yes, mark potential or clear one box of your doom track. If they say no, mark a condition or mark your doom track.

Backstory[edit]

  • When did you first learn of your doom?
    • At a medical check-up after the "treatment", and after I collapsed following time spent overexerting myself in exhilaration at my new health.
  • Where did you get your sanctuary?
    • I was lead to the safe house by anonymous messages from a benefactor I suspect of being an Osborn.
  • Why do you oppose your nemesis?
    • Using kids and teens as test subjects for modified Goblin Formula is horrific, and who knows how many people are being hurt because of it?
  • Who, outside the team, is crucial to defeating your nemesis?
    • My mysterious benefactor, who has been providing information and resources that I wouldn't be able to get without them.
  • Why does the team matter to you?
    • I grew up bouncing from care home to foster home to care home; the team are the first time I've had a stable group of peers pretty much ever.

The Team[edit]

When our team first came together...[edit]

  • We paid a high cost for victory. What was it?
    • There was a fifth member of the team, Knightspinner. He's... he's alive, but he probably won't walk again. If. When he wakes up.

Relationships[edit]

  • You told Spiderling all about doom and the danger you are in.
    • Once I realised they had no powers, I had to point out how dangerous this stuff if and why I'm doing it; I ended up telling them my whole tragic backstory in the process.
  • You'd love to kiss Wolf Spider before you doom comes.
    • Well, Izzy rather than Wolf Spider. The symbiote isn't as hot. And Izzy's whole "nothing is more badass than caring" thing is, well, it doesn't make her less attractive.

Influence[edit]

These people matter for what you need to do. Give Influence to two of your teammates.

  • Spiderling - Spiderling - I wouldn't admit it, but their whole "doing this because someone should" is actually pretty inspiring.
  • Catspaw - She's probably my best bet at getting answers on a few things, including whole my mysterious benefactor is.
