Weapons[edit]

  1. Ballistic Mesh Vest: worn as much as poss, even while sleeping if Rina thinks it’s warranted.
  2. 9mm Tokarev: usually worn in shoulder holster under coveralls and over shirts, at all times minus bathing and sleeping—and even then it will be where she can get to it in a flash.
  3. Box of ammunition for Tokarev, 100 count: in duffel bag.
  4. Extra clips, 13 rounds (3): in addition to the one in her gun; a clip usually goes into her belt pouch, the rest in the outer pocket of her duffel bag.

Tech[edit]

  1. Encyclopedia (1): 6” x 4” x 1”, loaded with Gen. Library and 3 Pro: Mechanical Engineering, Technical Engineering, Computer Engineering.
  2. Data reader (1): reads data chips, plugs into Encyclopedia.
  3. Data chips (12): 4 Gb each, in zippered case.

When Rina’s not using these items, they are packed carefully in spare clothes in her duffel. They are too valuable and delicate to carry around in her belt pouch 24/7. If she needs to download or swap data on the fly, she’s got the thumb drive in her butane lighter (see item 10, in Tools, below).

Tools[edit]

1. Electronic Tool Set (1): minus the one or two bigger pieces that make it difficult to carry around. Rina keeps it handy, with the oft-used items in her belt pouch. Otherwise, she stores it in her duffel when not using it.
2. Duct tape (1): 4” x 60 yds. : 20 feet or so is wrapped around a salvaged empty roll and squashed flat so as to carry it easily in her pockets, with the larger roll stored with the rest of her tools.
3. 10 mm combo wrench: on her at all times.
4. 4” slide caliper, brass: on her at all times.
5. 60” retractable cloth measuring tape, inches and metric: on her at all times.
6. Tool roll, medium (1): heavy duty canvas with Velcro straps, slots and pockets for various tools from here and there; when not stored in her duffel, Rina keeps it at hand as much as poss, preferring her own tools to those borrowed:

  • a small ball peen hammer
  • small claw hammer
  • socket wrench with 6 sockets of most common size
  • Allen and Hex wrench set, folding: 12 most common size heads; usually in a pocket somewhere on her, or in her belt pouch
  • Pipe cutter (see picture below)
Pipe Cutter
  • Crescent wrench, adjustable, 12”.
  • Flat head screwdriver, 10” l.: for when Rina needs the longer length for torque.
  • Phillips head screwdriver, 10” l.: as with the flat head, ditto. Also makes a handy stiletto in a pinch.
  • Box cutter, 6” l.: with snap-off blade tips, lock-catch; tube of replacement blades (6 ct.) stored in tool roll; box cutter in Rina’s pockets or belt pouch 24/7.
  • Butane, for refilling mini blow torch, 1.3 oz. can: stored in tool roll.

7. Engineer’s Gum, pkg. 5 sticks (1): This is something Ken came up with for my fic/game-’Verse. It’s an adhesive/gap filler that has to be kneaded with heat and moisture (such as found in your mouth) to activate the two inert ingredients it’s made of. Invented by a Russian on New Rodina who refuses to sell the patent to Blue Sun, the Engineer’s Gum is only made on New Rodina and is of limited availability. It’s got a mild mint flavor that halfway overrides the putty taste and once chewed, it sets up fast. Think of it as a chewable version of Miracle Putty ® (from the As Seen On TV commercials). Rina tries to get this stuff whenever she can and keeps it on her at all times. She’s down to her last pack, as of Game 3.0. (Image of gum wrapper below, ingredients deleted for proprietary reasons)

  • Wire Stripper
  • Electrical Crimper
  • 5/16” Screwdriver
  • 7/32” Screwdriver
  • 1/8” Screwdriver
  • Phillips Screwdriver
  • Wood/Metal File
  • Saw
  • Bottle Opener
  • 9 in/22 cm ruling on stainless steel handles
  • Awl with Thread Loop

9. Mini blow torch: Butane, 50 to 220 watts, 2,400°F (13300°C), usually in tools kit, sometimes in pocket, most times in belt pouch, with the safety engaged.

  • 20-second refill time
  • 40 min run time
  • All-in-one gas on and Piezo ignition switch
  • Flame adjustment button

  • Powerful robust flame

7. LED Penlight (1); usually in a pen slot on her shirt or coveralls.
8. Ration bars, war-issue (12): chocolate-colored, smooth, chewy and somewhat sticky, they’re chock full of vitamins, minerals, and other stuff you can’t pronounce. Shelf-life: damned near forever. Good for a day’s worth of nutrients, if not a full belly. When dirtside, Rina will buy them from military surplus stores a case at a time and keeps a bar on her at all times in a pocket. She’s down to her last dozen as of Game 3.0.
9. Chocolate, 42 g(1): the classic Hershey’s-style candy bar; Rina buys extras whenever she can for bribes. Whenever she’s dirtside/offship, she stashes one on her. She’d down to her last bar as of Game 3.0.
