Royal Society Riot!

Monograph Reading Turns into Staged Altercation

Royal Society, Burlington House, Piccadilly.

Last evening, a poorly attended monograph reading by Miss Selene Saulnier , a noted feline beast woman, degenerated into a physical altercation that only ended with the intervention of the Metropolitan Police Force and a local gallant.

Details of the incident are sketchy at this time, but at approximately 45 minutes into Miss Saulnier’s monograph on “Thaumaturgical Observation and Manipulation of Cellular Life Strands” a group of hecklers allegedly charged the stage whereupon another group allegedly charged the first in her defense. A general panic ensued that was only resolved by the swift intervention of Earl Dashwood and the Metropolitan Police.

Miss Saulnier claimed that the group of hecklers attacked her, but she was later found to be uninjured. Several of the so-called attackers were not so lucky, including three who were sent to St. Timothy’s hospital for treatment of severe claw injuries.

Sir Hensleigh Wedgwood* MRS, cousin of the famed naturalist Charles Darwin, was present at the brawl and had the following to say, “I’ve no doubt that the entire attack was staged by Miss Saulnier to hide the failures of her scientific investigation and to drum up sympathy for her ridiculous inheritance schemes.

Her claim to have achieved the vera eikon, is frankly rubbish. This is a feat which has eluded the greatest mages throughout history and without that acheivement; the rest of her thesis has no basis.

Instead of admitting failure, she gins up a sad collection of illusioned beasties and a poppycock theory for how it all works. Then rather than allowing close inspection of her results she hires thugs to fake an attack on the stage. Frankly, it’s little different from last year when she claimed that the government had seized all of her research.

I’ve no doubt the Earl is entirely blameless in all this. His wife is Selene’s half sister and he’s been friends with the Madame (Hannibal) Saulnier forever. Doubtless, he moved to save his friend from having her daughter be more of a laughingstock than she already is.

In my opinion Mlle. Saulnier-Dashwood is danger to herself and the public and deserves to be treated as such.”

Neither the Earl, Mlle. Saulnier, nor Mdm. Saulnier have provided comment on the events of last evening.
