Civilization[edit]

Halo is one of the Stellar Nations

Promise has been made earth-like. Plant and animal like from earth and Sesha have been introduced to the planet. It contains the bulk of the population. Because the planet was colonized before the advent of advanced terraforming the remains of many dome cities dot the plant's surface.

Lefey is a very cold planet (about the temperature of the Arctic at the planets equator). And unlike Promise, it has no water. But greenhouse terraforming is underway in order to raise the planets temperature.

A couple of permanent and semi-permanent settlements have already been constructed on Lefey.

People and Culture[edit]

About two thirds of the population is human and the other third is sesheyan. The humans of Halo tend to have slightly dark skin and hair. They are universally fit and well muscled. Sol is the most common language but a sesheyan dialect is also spoken by about half of the sesheyan population. A number of sesheyan words and phases have also been incorporated into the local dialect.

Honor and strength are regarded as the highest virtues of the Halorians. The civilization is based on a military structure that begins at childhood. While it is not common, some Halorians harbor a raciest attitude towards the Sesheyans.

Uth Matar[edit]

Uth Matar is the name of the military tradition that educates young Halorians. At the age of 8 children goes to live in academies that begin to teach them the basics of military life, and combat skills. Here they have no names or not contact with their biological family. The training is brutal, and the children often find themselves in mortal combat with their peers. The children stay in the academy until they are 17, at which point they are transferred to the Halorian military.

About 10-12% of the children do not survive Uth Matar.

Sesheyans[edit]

About a third of the population of Halo is sesheyans. These Sesheyans are the decedents of the slaves that the humans brought to the system in the aftermath of the Epic Virus. While they are considered full citizens of the system they have not integrated fully into the human culture and for the most part live apart from the humans of the system. The Seshayans are allowed to govern themselves for the most part and see to their own needs.

History[edit]

Colonized in 2128, Halo was the first system colonized by Humans that left Earth. The system was originally colonized in order to observe and study the complex life in the Sesha system. A disease known as the Epic Virus was contracted from Sesha and infected the populations of Halo and earth soon there after. The Earth was crippled by this disease and assumed that Halo had been a complete loss. Because of this, Halo lost contact with the Earth.

The people of Halo found themselves without aid and in desperate need of basic necessities. In order to acquire raw materials they invaded the nearby Sesha system taking food and raw matirials back to Halo. As the disease was being overcome the Halorians found themselves in need of labor since their population had been all but wiped out by the plague. To these ends the Halorians began taking sesheyans slaves from the Sesha system.

Soon Halo had a slave population that outnumbered its human population by five to one. In order to keep the slave population in check the Halorians developed an increasingly brutal warrior tradition. It was in this state that the People of the Earth, now know as the Sol System, found the Halo System when contact was reestablished in 2140.

Halo was resentful of the Earth's abandonment and authoritative attitude after contact was reestablished. Halo Resisted Sol's demands that Halo free its slaves and submit to Solar authority. A short violent conflict, known as the Halorian War followed. Halo had no space combat ships, at this point space combat was still theoretical. Solar troops were able to land on Halo but were quickly slaughtered by the Halorian troops. After three decisive battles the Solars called off the war and recognized Halo as an independent nation.

In 2173 the sesheyans on Halo stage a massive revolt that is quickly put down.

In 2181 Halo and Sol for a tense alliance during the Eberian War

In 2199 a second slave revolt takes place. After this revolt the Halorians free their slaves and offer limited rights to the Sesheyans.

2213; Halo takes part in the colonization of Port Freedom and Celt as well as the Stellar War alongside Sol, and Pharaoh. After the war Halo become a mercenary power. offering troops to aid the Galactic Senate and other private interests.

In 2268 Halo forms an alliance with Mesak in the Pirate War.
