Dàoxuān was left at the Shaolin temple as a young boy. Abbot Fotuo accepted Master Sengchou's decision to admit the boy, who proved an eager student. His voice matured and his singing moved the hearts of the monks. Dàoxuān's appetite for knowledge was equaled only by his appetite for food. The growing boy excelled in his studies, and had a good heart. He found it within himself to stand up for justice, and was known to lend his aid to those in need. Dàoxuān found opportunities to help others many times while on journeys for his order. It seemed that his path was often crossed by oppressors and villains. Fortunately, his mastery of wushu grew almost as quickly as his mastery of song, and he made short work of them. Master Sengchou also taught Dàoxuān magic, and Dàoxuān's devout nature allowed him to advance in this area as well. Ultimately, he was admitted to the Chan sect, gaining access to additional mysteries. But Dàoxuān's encounters on the road had not gone unnoticed, and he was drawing undue attention to the monastery. It was then that Abbot Fotuo sent Dàoxuān forth to the world of Jianghu, having seen the student's destiny lay outside the walls. Now a seasoned veteran,  Dàoxuān set upon his path, content to accept whatever lay before him.<br>

Dàoxuān is in her debt, something she delights in reminding him.<br>
