First Meeting[edit]

The whole experience shook me up. Even now, I'm not entirely sure I'm thinking coherently or that my words here make any real sense. He wasn’t what I expected. Alabaster Sunset is a beautiful woman who walks the world like a giant when she wants; I was expecting someone similar. I thought I would meet Allat, a woman barely-remembered from descriptions in books. Instead, I met him. Short, young in appearance, he obviously hailed from far West, originally at least. Alabaster’s eyes brim with barely-controlled fire. His were like the sea, limitless in both their patience and their strength.

He said he’d been alive since the contagion. For all our talk of immortal power and the Mandate of Heaven, I can’t imagine having been alive for that long. I guess it says something that he even came, though. Neither of us are the same persons we once were.

I was scared that he would come closer to me than he did.

I wish he had kissed me.
