- His mother was an aunt of Ziyads who had a dalliance with one of the officers of the Legion without the Septs knowledge. She became outcaste when it became apparent she was with child and eventualy left Chiaroscuro attempting to follow the Legionnaire she loved. Many years later Tarafa and his mother returned to Chiaroscuro where upon Ziyad met his younger cousin. When Ziyad two became outcaste the two shared some short adventures in the south, some of which both Ziyad and Tarafa are still wanted for.
