  • January 30 - The first Parliamentary elections in Iraq since the overthrow of the Ba'ath Party government led by Saddam Hussein take place.
  • January 28 - Confirmation of Condoleeza Rice as Secretary of State.
  • January 26 - A helicopter crash in eastern Iraq kills 31 United States soldiers.
  • January 24 - President Bush's "American Gods" speech. President Bush meets with "March for Life" participants.
  • January 23 - Johnny Carson dies.
  • January 22 - The Survivors press conference. President Bush makes weekly radio address (about freedom and anti-terror).
  • January 20 - The Survivors leave Celera in Seattle by air for D.C. George W. Bush is inaugurated in Washington D.C. for his second term as 43rd President of the United States.
