Saint Carmund

Saint Carmund is one of the older saints, known particularly for miracles of healing, of driving vermin out of a house, and finding and punishing a witch. He had a passion for cleanliness and his commandment "Thou shalt not suffer a rat to live" is well known.

Priests dedicated to his name have come in particular prominence in recent years, as they appear to have kept Alvatia free from the Great Pox that has decimated the mainland. Churches dedicated to Saint Carmund are known to reward laymen with money for the skin of a dead rat.

More recently, the Priests of Saint Carmund have taken to quite strong opposition to any form of magic except their own. Politically this has made them less popular in urban areas, however, their efforts have quite successfully driven the 'hedge magics' in more rural areas completely underground.
