This emblem was "branded" on each of the Survivors while in comatose state by Celera at the government's request. This brand is roughly 1/2" square at the base of the spine, often under the hairline. Government officials were not pleased with the "flamboyance" of the stylized comic book hero shield.
The Following people are individuals, from the crash of AA Flight 283, that died before or since the events of the crash.
- Ziad Atta [age 23]: Hijacker Pilot DOA SUICIDE: Shot himself on Flight AA 283
- Captain Charles F. Edwards III [age 51]: Captain, VA - National Academy Grad 1971, dashing but egotistical. He likes to make excessive PA announcements and show off his deep voice. He still wants to go into showbiz, but piloting pays the bills until then. DOA KILLED: stabbed on Flight AA 283
- Jon English [age 50]: First Class passenger. DOA KILLED: Stabbed on Flight AA 283
- Satam Jarrah [age 25]: Hijacker Leader DOA KILLED: Shot on Flight AA 283
- Donna Long [age 21]: Flight Attendant , she took some time off of college to travel the world and ended up becoming an airline stewardess. DOA KILLED: stabbed on Flight AA 283
- Unborn Child of Mary Beth Manly [age 2 years, 10 months]: DOA DIED: Noted by Dr. Booth the child died in childbirth, saving the mother. At the Rockville, MD facility the Survivors discovered that a child thought to be Mary Beth Manly's unborn baby lay in autopsy, seemingly in 5 different ages:

- Rodger Sweeny [age 39]: First Officer, DOA KILLED: stabbed on Flight AA 283
- Ashton ?? [age 24]: Possbily the most powerful Survivor. DOA DIED: Heart Failure, two days following the Awakening of the Survivors, January 24, 2005.
