One Hundred Twenty Years After: Dynasty & Decadence

A story of Dynastic politics and intrigue inspired by such authors as Alexadre Dumas and Jane Austen, set in Realm Year 733.

One hundred years ago, a family arose from the Dynastic forge as the Ones to Watch. Peleps Taric was recognised with his own household, the mark of true success in the Great Game, and as dashing swashbucklers, enlightened bodhisattvas and imperial super-soldiers, the youthful feats of his kin brought great prestige upon the family.

Over the years, Taric's relatives settled into a more mundane life under the his wing - scheming for power, honing their skills, climbing the ranks, making advantageous marriages and recruiting allies. But life - even centuries-long super-powered life - is not an epic, not the peasant's fantasy about square-jawed protagonists laughing in the face of the Seventh Legion or seducing Ragara's prettiest son. It is a history and history belongs to the winners. And the fragile sense of invulnerability that belongs to the young cannot last forever...

Peleps Taric has died. The body is not yet cold, and already, day by day, things slip away. Patrician families abandon the household in droves; the Order has reassigned a cousin to a small, inconsequential temple; a Satrapy in the East has been reassigned to the Mnemon's new favorite; there is even talk of the Taric household being reabsorbed into the Main House...

Taric's kin are not abandoning the field yet, nor dishonouring their namesake. Instead, their last best hope is to take one final shot at saving their family...
