Overview

Soldier Port is a relatively new settlement on Griffin Island. It was founded by merchants hoping to trade with the interior of the island. Throughout the ages control of the area transition from local Zaring chieftains whom terrorized and exploited the merchants to merchants with sufficiently strong mercenary forces to hold their own. About a century ago the tower and walls were built for protection against the local warriors. Since then the town has been relatively stable, with control passing from merchant to merchant from the mainland. Many of these have been retired soldiers who've successfully strong armed their way into a decent retirement from control of the trade going through Soldier Port.

Eight years ago Maugre came to town, killed the current ruler and took control himself. Since then he has title himself First Citizen
