The Shadowman's Story (Tobyverse)
Much of what is known about the Shadowman is conjecture more than fact. No one is quite sure what he is, and he isn't talking.
He first showed up 8 years ago, leading a cult of Ahriman-worshipers in Iran. He was, supposedly, 17 at the time. His cult was growing ever more powerful and dangerous, using the people's resentment against their oppressive government as fuel. When he vanished as mysteriously as he appeared, his cult self-destructed: the government cracked down on it, and it split in multiple offshoots.
Rumour gives him all kind of mysterious abilities and "black miracles" he can perform, but few of them are documented in any concrete way. And now here he is, part of the new Seekers team after eight years of absence. In the few interviews the team has given since its inception, he has stayed quiet about his story. When asked what he had been doing since his disappearance and his apparent change of heart, he simply said that he "found religion" and "was traveling to find more about himself". Can we really trust someone like him as part of our super-hero team?
The Shadowman is possibly the most powerful team-member. His divine heritage, as the son of Angra Mainyu, gives him vague and vast powers over Darkness and Evil. However, with his power come great weaknesses, as the holy substances of Fire and Water hurt and/or hinder him greatly. He might be powerful, but he's powerless when it rains, and fire can easily hurt him. He goes for the whole trench coat look, with some perma-stubble. He's always wearing sunglasses to hide his eyes, which are pure darkness. It is said that anyone who looks into his eyes sees his own evil reflected back to him.
Personality-wise, he seems at first to be really mean and cynical, always sarcastic and seeing the worst in any situation. The truth is that his negative personality is mostly a cover, to hide his great amount of self-loathing. He wants to be a hero so badly, but everything in his nature seems to be made for evil. He can see the bad side of everyone, whether he wants to or not. Even his powers, great as they are, look more like the stuff a villain would use rather than a hero. And his father's minions keep trying to kill him or get him to return to their side all the time. He always blames himself for things, and keep it deep inside, where it won't hurt others, just him.
