People and Culture

The people of ICS are most known for their interest in capitalism.Humans are the most common race here. While all elasticities are presents a trend of dark hair seems to be at least noticeable. Mechalus make up a small percentage of the population as well. Solar and Alerian are the two most common languages, but many people here are fluent in any number of other languages.

The government is composed of a collection of businesses that have proven to be quite successful. Once a company is able to amass a certain amount of resources a representative of that business is invited to join the Governing Council. The Governing Council is responsible for managing the infrastructure of the system and ensuring free trade.

While the system has become unpopular because of their predatory business tactics, and alleged abuses against its citizens. Despite this reputation, the people of I.C.S. enjoy an amount of personal wealth and quality of life that surpasses almost every other civilization in known space.

History

ICS was founded during the Exodus in 2137 primarily by cooperate organizations that wanted to protect their investments. Once on the planet these cooperation found that here they could enjoy a free market that would have been impossible had they remained in Sol.

In 2138, Soon after its founding ICS ships discovered the Mechalus race in the Aleer system. The Mechalus were highly advanced and friendly toward mankind. The Mechalus were also instrumental in discovering a cure for the Epic Virus.

In 2192 ICS assisted Sol, Halo, and Pharaoh in founding the Celt and Port Freedom systems.

In 2206 the discovery of the T'sa prompted ICS to attempt to establish a trading relationship with the advanced T'sa. The was counted by the other nations who were unsure what to make out of the highly advanced alien race. In 2208 ICS placed a blockade around T'sa space. In 2010 Eberon attacks Celt. This event sparks the Stellar War. ICS and Eberon form an alliance and remain allies until the wars end.

Eberon and ICS are defeated in the war and both face heavy penalties. ICS quickly reorganizes itself and joins the Galactic Alliance. ICS is able to reap huge profit by trading with the other nations of the alliance and enters into a Golden Age of prosperity. Some ICS historians have remarked that loosing the war was the best thing that could have happened to them.

In 2252 the Aramil system is colonized. By 2269 the colony was struggling for survival. ICS is able to negotiate a favorable trade agreement where ICS ensures the survival of the colony in exchange for mining rights and labor. The agreement was very profitable for ICS despite the immense cost of terraforming the the planet.

In 2275 a violent conflict erupts between two computer development companies, A.Link and Innovation Tech. The conflict takes the form of aggressive industrial espionage. A.Link is able to get the planetary government to use its police force to put down Innovation. The Assault was largely successful, but several key CEOs and programmers from Innovation were able to escape the system and went into hiding on Vistra.

Soon companies on Vistra start making use of computer technologies created by A.Link which had been stolen and brought to vistra and distributed by the fleeing Innovation programmers who had become supportive of Vistra's free information philosophies. By now A.Link was a member of the governing body of I.C.S and demanded that the Vistra companies pay royalties for the stollen technology. Vistra refused, and a short war resulted.

I.C.S was able to overcome the Vistra military and force a surrender. I.C.S has had a military presence in Vistra ever since.
