Snow is falling over the cruel city of Sarn, capital of the dark kingdom of Kern. For three hundred years, it has lain in the grip of Jarek the Lich King, last of the Sorcerer Kings. By his command, the people of Kern must slave endlessly in his mines and factories all their living days - and when they die, his sorcery animates their lifeless husks and makes them resume their toil. His will is carried out by the Servitors, his spies and slavemasters; the Knights of the Skull, his faceless soldiers and enforcers; and the Shadow-Taken, his disciples in the dark arts.

But even the most brutal of tyrants can not crush all hope. In secret, the people of Kern gather to tell tales of the true gods and of the green lands to the south where people live free. The bravest among them go even further, and secretly work against the Lich King and his works - strike down the most brutal of his servants, help the needy that he neglects, and do what they can to preserve those remaining sparks of beauty and sanctity in the land that he would stamp out. They are the Resistance.

Freedom Never Dies is a Blue Rose campaign Narrated by Baeraad. It follows a group of members of the Kern Resistance as they seek to oppose the Lich King, protect the innocent people he oppresses, and guard the remaining traces of Light and beauty in Kern for the day when he can finally be overthrown.
