BEING EDITED AT PRESENT

"My spear strikes low, high then low again. Its tip moves liek a hummingbird and my attacks reveal themselves like an unfolding lotus - glorious in their beauty and perfection of form."

Overview

This page is a Lore Sheet for the Unfolding Lotus Techniqu, a set of Wushu Secrets that use the traditional longspear, a weapon with a flexible bamboo pole tipped with sharp steel! This is a great style for those who want to maximise the number of dice they roll, and synergises well with a strong Wind Trigram.

These techniques can only be used for physical conflict.

The attack techniques on this Lore Sheet can only be used for physical attacks. Normally, a practitioner must have a longspear to benefit from this fighting style, though any weapon that can make two handed long reach thrusting attacks and which holds a point can be used in place. If you are unarmed, you cannot use attacks from this Lore Sheet!

There are no defence techniques on this Lore Sheet!

Hummingbird Spear

In the time most martial artists could thrust once with a spear, you can strike a dozen times. Such exertion is exhausting, but the effects can be deadly.

Cost: X Yang Chi.

Keywords: Attack; Action; Physical;

Attack: Make a close combat attack with your spear against a single enemy. Add +X to your Motion for this attack, up to a maximum of your Wind Trigram.

Dance of the Unfolding Lotus

This is not a static style. These strikes are rooted in footwork - forward to pressure, backwards to gain space, sideways to outflank.

Cost: 1 Yang Chi.

Keywords: Attack; Modifier; Physical; Aftertouch; Superior Mobility;

Attack: Use immediately after making a spear attack. You can move a full turn's distance.

Flock Scattering Gale

A sweep, and the air moves. All blows away.

Cost: 2 Yang Chi.

Keywords: Attack; Action; Physical;

Attack: Make an attack with your sword against a single enemy. This attack may be made at close combat, or at any target you can see at least partially within three hundred yards, and have clear line of effect to. Your cut is visible as a shimmering of silver energy moving in a wide arc. If the attack hits and deals at least one point of damage, then the target is thrown back a number of metres equal to your wind trigram. Also, everyone within (Wind Trigram) metres of the target is buffetted by a strong wind and loses the benefits of any stance he is in until the start of your next turn. This strong wind has no real effect on human-sized characters, but is enough to blow aside flames, displace shallow water, scatter debris and blow away birds and vermin.

Lightning Arc

My sword tip moves this way, then that, and lightning is issued. The storm engulfs my enemies!

Cost: 2 Yang Chi.

Keywords: Attack; Action; Physical;

Attack: Make an attack with your sword against a single enemy. This attack may be made at close combat, or at any target you can see at least partially within three hundred yards, and have clear line of effect to. Your cut is visible as a crackling arc of electricity. You make an immediate additional attack, but that attack must be using the Lightning Arc technique again.

Infinite Cataclysm Strike

My sword crackles with power, and moves with deceptive slowness at first, but then all the power of my infinite chi is unleashed!

Prerequisite: You can only learn this kung fu secret if you first master every other kung fu secret on this lore sheet.

Cost: 7 Yang Chi.

Keywords: Attack; Action; Physical;

Attack: Make an attack with your sword against a single enemy. This attack may be made at close combat, or at any target you can see at least partially within three hundred yards, and have clear line of effect to. Your cut is visible as a blast of corruscating chi. When defending the target may not use any techniques or channeling in defence that would increase their interference or decrease your accuracy. If the attack hits and deals at least one point of damage, then you also destroy one piece of equipment on the target per point of damage dealt. If the attack hits and deals at least one point of damage, then the target is thrown back a number of metres equal to your wind trigram and loses the benefits of any stance he is in until the start of your next turn. Also, everyone within (Wind Trigram) metres of the target is buffetted by a strong wind. You make an immediate additional attack, but that attack must be using the Infinite Cataclysm Strike technique again, or with the Lightning Arc technique.

wild Crane Zodiac Techniques

Lessons learnt can be relearnt:the sword becomes my hand, and the slicing strike is my kick.

Prerequisite: You must know at least one stance from the Twelve Zodiac Stances.

Cost: None.

Keywords: Continuous; Physical;

Effect: You can still gain the benefits of the Twelve Zodiac Stances when you are wielding a sword, or attacking with a sword. Note that you must still buy the stances as separate kung fu secrets!
