Theronas

Demi-god Glabrezu

Shadowmaster/Warlock

Theronas's origins are shrouded in mystery. It is known that he is the son of the Shadow and a powerful Glabrezu, that he originates from Shavarath, and that his comrades expelled him for being too much of a bastard, even by Demonic standards. This insult spawned his desire to ascend to true godhood and join his father (after crushing those who dared to spite him so).

It was shortly after his mission began that he encountered Arijani. The Rakshasa Lord immediately took an interest in him, offering an ancient ritual he said was intended to gather power from other sources, specifically Outsiders, within a suitable vessel. In reality, Arijani was setting up the obviously unworthy creature to be little more than a pawn in his own, much more terrestrial domination schemes.

Theronas, in his hubris, took the ritual and plotted to use it against the Rakshasa King, never once questioning its authenticity. He promptly began scouring the planes for a vessel that would serve his purposes, collecting followers along the way. He had narrowed his search to the Material Plane, as mortals did not need a soul to have a body and would make fine vessels given the right conditions. Again, Arijani crossed paths with him, this time leading him to a very likely candidate, Halester. Just before his first defeat at the hands of Captain Jarlot and his fellow adventurers, Arijani killed Halester. Theronas quickly seized the elf's soul and began twisting it, eventually gaining his body as well.

In the years that followed, he found Halester to be slightly inadequate. It was then that he decided to kidnap Halester's former wife Laurel and his two children, Amelia and Haru. Both children proved to be inadequate as well, with Amelia breaking and Haru going insane. Knowing they had all been very close, he chose to create one designed more intentionally. At his master's bidding, Halester forced himself upon Laurel, creating Terra in the process.

The girl was a perfect match, he only had to wait for her to grow strong enough to survive the ritual. But just as his moment of triumph arrived, Laurel thwarted his plans by killing Terra out of desperation. The enraged demi-god had Laurel killed on the spot, and the attempt to raise Terra ended in her loss to the Material Plane.

Theronas and Halester sought other means, but progress was slow til they discovered Terra had survived. After waiting for the planes to come into the alignment needed for the ritual once again, they struck, kidnapping Terra. The crew of the FF sought to rescue their friend, managing to track them to their hideout on the Plane of Shadow. In the end, Theronas was broken by the very person he believed would be his ticket to godhood, and Arijani came that much closer to his own twisted goals.
