Archnemeses[edit]

The strong, the awesome, the very dead.

Strahd Von Zharovich LE Vampire King [Human] Necromancer 16/Fighter 2 (Deceased)

Famous for his role in the Ravenloft Campaign Setting, the Strahd Von Zharovich of Eberron is the First Vampire created in a similar manner to Ravenloft's by making a pact with the Keeper (actually Graazt pretending to be 'Death'). For 2000 years, the Warlord of Barovia was one of the most powerful evils in Eberron and unable to be driven from Karrnath as his minions tormented it. Somehow; Kael, Cassius, Ethan, Theresa, and a host of other heroes destroyed him for good during the final years of the Last War. His power and role as the Lord of all Vampires was assumed by King Kaius.

The Cabinet of Faces NE Changeling Organization (Destroyed)

The Cabinet of Faces was a secretive group of spies and saboteurs that had the goal of eventually dominating Khorvaire. Preparing to take over New Cyre, they actually were planning to seize command of all of Breland. In the end, the group overestimated its power badly and had most of its senior agents killed in the operation. With most of its leadership killed or rounded up by Vice Admiral Ramirez, it ceased to exist.

Concord Krauser LE Human Male Fighter 7/Dark Lantern 5 (Deceased???)

Concord Krauser was, until defeated by Rupin, the single best agent of the Dark Lanterns and the man worthy of being known by Vice Admiral Ramirez as "Number One." In truth, Krauser was a double agent despite his distinguished record. He was working a double life as the chief assassin of the Aurrum as well as Merrix D'Cannith's personal henchman.

Concord Krauser was a Brelish of Karrn descent whom grew up in abject poverty in Wroat. An associate of Rupin's growing up, Concord apprenticed himself to mercenaries in order to work his way up through the ranks until he got a comission in the army. Concord's frequent lost comrades and treatment as a foreign born immigrant's son was enough to soure him on his homeland. It was under Merrix D'Cannith's influence, however, that he became a servant of corruption.

Krauser was a master knife fighter and favored dual-wielding short swords. He was also capable of using an extraordinary number of Cannith magical devices due to his association with both K-division along with Merrix. His death was covered up as an act of treason with his burial guaranteed in the Wroat's Hamilton Cemetary for Honored Veterans.

Harath Clawblade (Deceased)

Mid Level Bosses[edit]

Villains too powerful to be no-named characters but not strong enough to bedevil our characters perpetually, perhaps.

Magnus CE Master Vampire [Changeling] Wizard 4/ Warlock 4/ Eldritch therge 3/ Magehound 2 (Deceased)

Magnus is a former Magehound who was once the premiere member of the organization during the Days of Galifar. However, Magnus was captured by Diego Brando of Thrane and transformed into a vampire. Magnus proved too strong willed for Diego to control and soon escaped. Magnus would then join the Cabinet of Faces and rise to be their pre-eminent assassin. Magnus is quite insane with a penchant for theatricality, illusions, and a sadistic sense of humor. He wishes to use the True Fang of the Keeper to ascend to becoming powerful enough to challenge King Kaius for Lord of All Vampires.

Remus Zallen CE Werewolf Lord [True Lycanthrope] Berserker 10/Priest of the Devourer 2 (Deceased)

Doctor Remus Zallen made a pact with a Demonic servitor of Yeenoghu, that he assumed to be an avatar of the Devourer. Born a werewolf during the Silver Crusade, his obviously Lycanthropic features made him a target of the Inquisition. Massacring several innocents to seal the pact, he gained immortality and much greater power than before. Fleeing down to Cyre, he moved from town to town as he bartered his herbalist cures and occasional magic to win the trust of the locals. All the while, he would secretly murder patients and devour their bones. Recently, his Master re-awoke in Caer Shadowfast and inspired him to create a vast infestation of Lycanthropes.

Martin Corthel

CE Male Halfling Enchanter 9/Mindbender 3

This is a sick, sick, sick little man. Nothing brings Martin more joy than forcing others to do his bidding, and to him magical compulsion and/or torture is better than sex. He has no ambitions of political power, nor the patience or skill to concoct plots, but he is highly marketable as a minion. Harath employs him as his head torturer, inquisitor, discipline enforcer, etc. for the Blood Claws, and Martin is more than happy to be given near free reign in his activities.

Red Owl (Deceased)

CE Female Half-Elf (Drow) Fighter 2/Blackguard 7

Harath's consort and one of the few who know who he truly is in all his guises. While Harath is a known womanizer and notorious for his short attention span with women, his interest in Red (a former slave of his) has yet to fade. While he works best in the shadows and behind the scenes, Red acts much like his bodyguard, and her delight in blood has her rightly feared by the entirety of the Blood Claws.

Bastisu

CE Incubus

Being the busy man he is, Harath cannot always be where he should. That is where Bastisu comes in. While ostensibly bound to Harath alone, he is actually a member of the Lords of Dust, infiltrating the Emerald Claw, the Blood Claws, the Swords of Liberty, and the Brelish Houses of Parliment. He and Red Owl are the only ones outside the EC that truly know the extent of Harath's plans, and he does his best to see them to fruition. Secretly, he's quite pleased Shadowspawn began taking measures to ensure Harath's success, as his "master" does not take kindly to being corrected by his underlings.

Ixll

CE Illithid Priest of The Dragon Below 12 (Nyarlathotep)

One of the leaders of the Masks of a 1000 Faces cults, Ixll was alive during the Age of Demons. Ixll is totally insane and perverse with a twisted love of Ancient Sciences and Magical Theory. The Illithid has founded thousands of cults over the centuries and performed countless abominations that he believes are pleasing to his master. Even the Lords of Dust want nothing to do with him thanks to his madness.

Lesser Villains[edit]

The bad guys that just don't have the sense to die when you want them too.

Bane - Former Assassin in the employ of the Emerald Claw. (Deceased)

Electra NE Female Vampire [Changeling] Fighter 5/Rogue 2

Raised by Magnus, Electra was trained like her brother in the arts of murder and deception. While not as talented as her brother, she had the good sense to flee whenever the fighting turned against her. While favoring the rapier, she has no real sense of fair play and enjoys sneak attacks whenever the opportunity presents itself. She is likely to adopt the Swashbuckler prestige class in the future. Electra possesses a Wand of Illusions and a Rapier of Quickness +3 that were gifts from paramour that she eventually killed.

Gihren Zabai- Former leader of the Emerald Claw in Caer Shadowfast (Deceased)

Pierro NE Male Vampire [Changeling] Bard 7

A trained acrobat and illusionist, Pierro was never particularly keen on being the brains of the outfit. While by no means stupid, Pierro had no real desire to work out the planning for himself and was content to let his partners do the leading. With the death of Picardo, he is likely to join up with Electra to let her handle all of the planning despite her emotional instability. Very charming, he's a talented illusionist and a master of disguise independent of being a Changeling. His most prized possession is a pair of "Boots of Striding and Springing".

Guy Neutral Male Changeling Rogue 8 (Deceased)

Guy is another member of the Cabinet of faces, although he claims he's not part of Caer Shadowfast part of the organization, and that he finds the whole vampire business disgraceful. He job within the cabinet is that of the messenger. He apperently knows Dey's parents. He seem to be very fond of drawn out speeches and magical gadgets.

Cynthia d'Cannith Neutral Human Female Sorceress 3/Rogue3/Cannith Wand Adept 3 (Deceased)

Cynthia is a calm and collected personality. She isn't particularly friendly, but neither is she mean. Very patient, and sure shot, she's the perfect wand sniper. Cynthia suffered from vanity and confusion about emotion during battle, though.

A very beautiful woman, dressed in some green clothes that offers the best camuflage (in forests), keeping her long blonde hair in a ponytail to keep it out of her hair. On her back she got her wand, a finely made eternity staff, almost two metres long, made out the finest oak and with a magical looking glass for her to watch through.

Cynthia was born within the house of Cannith, where she grew up. A bit of a loner, she never had many friends besides Tacono in her childhood. When she grew up she was trained as a wand adept because of her intuative knowledge of how to get magical items to work. Later on I her life she would meet up with Bruno (CN H M Fighter 7), and together they would form a skilled team of mercinaries, who would end up getting hired by Krauser. Cynthia was killed by Rupin, never realizing that her service was comissioned on behalf of the Aurrum.

Professor Ivo (Deceased) LE Male Gnome Aristocrat 4/Artificer 4

A mid-ranking member of the Trust who was obsessed with destroying non-Gnomes. Somehow, over the decades, he was able to accumulate enough wealth to create a Firestorm rocket that he intended to aim at Sharn in order to restart the Last War. A New Age Guru that fostered worship of the Devourer, Professor Ivo kept a pet Basilisk to deal with his prisoners. In the end, his plans were rather easilly thwarted and the Trust quickly hushed up their renegade member's plot. They were too embarrassed by missing someone hatching such a scheme under their very noses.

Agent Zero Lawful Evil 9th Level Kalashtar Male Monk (Deceased)

Agent Zero is the prototype of the Dragoon Project that was designed to give the house it's own collection of highly skilled agents and operatives. Merrix successfully kidnapped and corrupted one of the Kalashtar's best monks by wiping his mind completely clean through a combination of torture mixed with bio-chemicals. The resulting creation was quickly retrained into being a highly skilled warrior with abilities well above and beyond that of a normal man. Agent Zero's martial arts skill has been imparted on many other servants while Merrix is currently debating creating many more of his type through his use of cloning

Captain Swag Neutral Evil Human (Dragonmarked) Rogue 3/Dread Pirate 5

Captain Swag is the leader of the Black Sword's Coastal Forces and one of the original pirate leaders to join the group. Captain Swag is aware that he serves the Black Lotus Society and (surprisingly) is also aware that they answer to the Dreaming Dark. Captain Swag is uninterested in their politics as he's mostly concerned about his own wealth and prestige more than anything else. He claims to be a member of the Dragonmarked Houses but his membership is actually different from what he claims. In truth, the pirate is an exorciate member of House Valdis. This is shown by the fact that he keeps his Mage Bred monkeys and a substantial number of Dire Sharks that he controls underneath his ship.

Scurvay Neutral Evil Male Scrag Swashbuckler 5 (Deceased)

The late and powerful Scrag was a figure of some unique contrasts due to growing up in Breland as the child of Droam Expatriates who used their extensive size to gain position where intellect wouldn't open doors for them. Scurvay, despite his denials, is a former member of House Daask and this is how he afforded his private tutoring. His employment in the Black Sword pirates is a matter of the Daask wanting to form a profitable relationship with the slavers. In the end, it matters little as he's now quite dead.

Shadows over Cyre
